DAVID BIELANDER
OBJECT, 2022
An animal model arrived in David’s box. In contrast to the scaly, colourful giant boas we knew from him, this one was doubly irritating: a little snake curled up quite inconspicuously on the bottom of the box because it was made of brown corrugated cardboard. And that in turn is a fake – in the most beautiful jewellery art of nobly patinated silver and white gold.
David Bielander (Munich/Germany) is a goldsmith and artist. Born in Basel, Switzerland, he graduated as a master student from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Prof. Otto Künzli, taught at various universities and runs a studio with Helen Britton. Bielander’s objects – including reptiles, molluscs and even human body parts – lurk shimmering or camouflaged in many renowned collections, galleries and exhibition projects.

Dear David, Dear Helen, we are just a phone call apart – a daily opportunity in my pocket since a long time.
